Duties

Often referred to as 'three parks in one", Olympic National Park protects 922,651 acres of three distinctly different ecosystems - rugged glacier capped mountains, over 73 miles of wild Pacific coast and magnificent stands of old-growth and temperate rain forest. Major Duties

  • Work in a small team to conduct vegetation monitoring or invasive plant early detection surveys.
  • Under direct supervision, lead interns or volunteers, schedule field work, maintain equipment, and implement a safety program for the team.
  • Assist with the Invasive Vegetation Management and Ecological Restoration programs.
  • Survey for and maps invasive plants. Utilizes manual, mechanical, and chemical methods to control invasive vegetation.
  • Properly identify vascular plant species and utilize dichotomous keys and knowledge of plant families to identify plants.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
