Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and complete repairs
  • Produce accurate and itemized work orders on the work that was completed
  • Utilize the latest in diagnostic equipment to accurately pinpoint truck issues
  • Conduct truck inspections and alert the Service manager to issues that will prevent their trucks from passing inspection
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested

Diesel Mechanic Education / Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required vocational school preferred
  • Valid Driver License
  • Knowledge of heavy-duty equipment front end loaders, forklifts & skid steers
  • Must have mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Basic hydraulic knowledge also a plus
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work well with minimal supervision this position reports directly to the fleet maintenance supervisor
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
  • Able to work all shifts and overtime if necessary
  • 1 year plus experience performing repairs and services on Diesel and Heavy Equipment
  • 5-7 years of experience a plus
  • Must have own set of tools
  • Ability to work occasional weekends as needed
