Taproom Manager

Overview:

Thunder Island Brewing Co is a high-volume destination brewery located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge in Cascade Locks, Oregon.

We proudly brew craft beer inspired by a love for outdoor adventures, with a nod to local history and a respect for all that the scenic Columbia River Gorge has to offer, while celebrating diversity and fostering an inclusive brewpub experience for all.

The Taproom Manager position must have a pulse on our day to day operations. During our peak season, you will be working 40-50 hours per week helping lead and support our team.

In the winter, you will be working 30-40 hours per week with a focus on updating SOPs, refreshing, and taking much deserved time-off.

This position requires the Taproom Manager to be onsite Wednesday through Sunday to compliment our peak hours

Oversee service and day-to-day operations, including guest and staff relations via same day schedule management and table touches

Scheduling for FOH in a seasonal location (recognize where/when/how to support your team)

Holding staff accountable with coaching and counseling as needed

Oversee cash bank management including ensuring workable banks and daily deposit auditing

Perform continual on the job training surrounding new SOPs, new beer and food menu rollouts, specials, etc

Maintain high standards of hospitality and cultivate a staff culture to reflect that

Manage guest expectations and successfully handle concerns in the moment

Recognize ways to help improve taproom operations

Perform HR duties alongside GM and Chef including hiring, onboarding/training, conflict resolution, and ongoing education

Ensure accurate time recording and attendance for FOH employees

Foster a positive and fun work environment for all employees

Assist with managing community relations, including our Mug Club

Take point on quality control for food and beverages served daily

Experience:
2+ years in restaurant/taproom management or cumulative experience in restaurant or craft beer industry

Ability to to obtain Food Handlers Card and OLCC

Proficient in Google Workspace; experience with restaurant POS hardware/software and scheduling software

Craft Beer Knowledge and Education:


Possess a deep understanding of craft beer, including knowledge of beer styles, brewing processes, flavor profiles, and quality control measures.


Strong familiarity with industry trends, regulations, and the ability to train staff on beer knowledge and customer service are essential.


Preferred or willing to obtain:
Certified Beer Server Certification through Cicerone

Work Environment Requirements

Physical strength and agility necessary with the ability to lift lbs repeatedly

Work in a loud environment with basic safety accommodations

The ability to work on your feet for long periods of time (standing, walking, bending)

The ability to work a flexible schedule including a rotating schedule of early morning, late evening, and weekend work

Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation and Benefits

This is an Hourly, Full-Time Position

$ $27.00 per hour DOE
