MAJOR DUTIES:
Crew Leader - Provides daily direction and demonstrates proper historic trades work methods to at least three workers including answering questions, setting work pace, and reviewing work in progress.
Carpentry - Advanced knowledge and skill with traditional and historic craft skills, precision carpentry and woodworking equipment to construct and repair building frames, rafters, walls, staircases, door and window frames with precise fits, and accurate dimensions.
Masonry - Basic knowledge of the techniques and procedures of masonry work needed to replace missing or deteriorated mortar and loose stone work.
Historic Preservation - Assists with preparation of sketches, field reports, and condition assessments using digital cameras and computer software.
Painting - Basic knowledge and use of paints to match and replicate existing finishes.A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.
