As a Marine Corps Musician, you'll have the opportunity to serve with one of the 10 renowned Marine Corps bands performing throughout the United States and internationally—from New York to Sydney to Paris—serving as a musical ambassador playing the trumpet.

Roles within the bands also include Bandmasters, Small Ensemble Leaders, Enlisted Conductors, Drum Majors, and Instrument Repair Technicians.

Also available is the opportunity to be a part of The President's Own and the Commandant's Own Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, both based in Washington, D.C.


Qualifications:

  • Pass a musical audition performing musical excerpts, in addition to sight reading and a selective performance of major, natural minor, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales.
  • Pass a physical examination, as well as mental and moral screening.
  • You will attend Marine Corps recruit training followed by the Naval School of Music where you will study before playing for one of the field bands.
