Duties
  • You will perform duties in construction, maintenance, and repair electrical distribution systems (overhead and underground) 120/208 to 34500 KV.
  • You will perform work on highly complex system of electronic monitoring and control such as the power logic Supervisor Control Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which uses special purpose dedicated computers.
  • You will perform quality analysis on electrical power systems using complex micro processing based analyzer/recorders that utilize analog to digital converters, differential to single ended converters and software generated programming.
  • You will perform complex voltage and current waveform spectrum analysis to define the nature of the power disturbance in order to identify corrective actions required.
  • You will manage the power distribution system using the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and other related systems.

      PHYSICAL EFFORT:
      The incumbent performs installations and repairs work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms that are occasionally in hard to reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, working in trying and uncomfortable positions. Working from aerial buckets, poles, and in manholes. The incumbent has to handle/lift heavy materials and equipment such as poles, transformers, panel boards, switching gear, reels of cable, etc. that occasionally weigh over 50 pounds.

      WORKING CONDITIONS:
      The work is performed both indoors and outdoors under both hot and cold climatic conditions. Occasionally, emergency work is performed outside of inclement weather and also in areas that are extremely noisy. Works with & around high voltage, vaults, station containing transformers, and switching gear. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, & occasionally is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, burns, and electrical shock. Required to wear hard hats, high voltage safety gear (gloves, safety glasses, flash suit if needed) per OSHA regulations. May be required to work on energized circuits. Then incumbent is required to be trained in confined space entry.
