The Stone Independent School seeks a full-time Upper School math instructor to teach upper level math courses. The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong interest in problem-based learning (for example, seeing tackling a problem set or a math proof as a design thinking – i.e., iterative – challenge, rather than a task to be checked off; for example, seeing developing proficient mathematical thinking as an ongoing process).

Position Summary: Our program emphasizes the development of skills and the opportunity for students to cultivate their curiosity through a wide range of choices. The essential duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Teach 11th and 12th grade math;
  • Develop a skills-based curriculum with a team of STEM teachers;
  • Teach multi-grade level electives to Upper School students, the design and scope of which are informed by teacher and student interests and need not be math or applied math courses;
  • Advise a group of 8-10 students, overseeing their academic and social growth;
  • Perform other non-teaching duties as assigned by the Senior Administrative Team;
  • Help lead morning community time, serve as club and House leaders, mentors, and advisors;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and actively promoting anti-racism in education;
