Overview:

This role is perfect for an experienced data scientist who is passionate about turning data into valuable insights and solutions that drive business outcomes. The position demands strong technical skills in areas like programming, applied statistics, and data manipulation; and calls for a deep understanding of business operations. While some supervision is expected, this individual will take the lead in identifying and implementing data science strategies to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement analytical solutions leveraging optimization, simulation, and statistical methods to deliver actionable insights
  • Integrate large volumes of data from diverse sources to create data sets for analyses
  • Prepare data for modeling by applying validation and aggregation techniques
  • Develop and fine-tune predictive models for various purposes
  • Interpret results effectively and communicate findings to influence decision-making
  • Integrate solutions into existing business processes using automation
  • Stay updated on current statistical methods and tools
  • Provide guidance and training to junior Data Science team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience
  • Data Science Expertise: Strong proficiency in at least two key areas like Data Visualization, Statistics, Programming, and Data Management
  • Data Management Skills: Advanced abilities in SQL queries, data exploration, and logical data modeling
  • Business Acumen: Effective communication, experience in financial services, and leadership qualities
  • Leadership Abilities: Ability to mentor team members, adapt to change, and lead project prototyping
  • Preferred Traits: Self-starter mindset, problem-solving skills, and a desire for continuous learning

The salary range for this role is between $73,300.00 and $143,300.00 per year. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, location, and experience.

In addition to competitive compensation, Unum offers a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare coverage, disability insurance, performance incentives, generous PTO, and a 401(k) plan with employer contributions. All benefits are subject to individual plan terms.
