Survey/Distribution Field Staking Technician. Job in Spring Allied-IT Jobs

Silver Spring, Maryland, United States M and S Engineering Full time

M&S Engineering, LLC seeks qualified candidates for the entry level position of Survey/Distribution Field Staking Technician to work out of The Woodlands, Texas location. This position will be responsible for staking electrical distribution lines in accordance with the clients specifications and standards. This position will also provide additional support, as needed, to the surveying and distribution design departments.

This position will report to the office and is not remote.

Requirements Include
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Possess a current Texas Drivers License with an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to walk and carry hammers, stakes, lathes, etc. for the purpose of laying out staking for Electric Distribution Design over and across various terrain.
  • Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of weights.
  • Sitting/standing/walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors extended hours, occasional overtime, and overnight travel.
Required Duties and Responsibilities Include
  • Complete field notes/staking sheets and computer computations.
  • Utilize level rod, prism pole or tape at designated points to assist in determining location and elevations of various features.
  • Lay out stakes for map-making, land construction, Electric Transmission/Distribution line construction and other surveys.
  • Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey with machete, brush hook or chain saw.
  • Keep crew vehicle stocked with supplies and equipment; clean and organize vehicle.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for the quality, accuracy and time constraints of work product.
  • Comply with company policies, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Strong skills of time management, organizational and multi-tasking.
  • Additional duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Surveyor-in-training (S.I.T.) certification is a huge plus.
  • Experience in distribution line design and staking is preferred.
  • Experience with boundary, topographic, as-built surveys, construction staking, ROW staking, staking of electric distribution lines, staking electric transmission lines is a plus.
  • Familiarity of GPS equipment and data collection is a plus, but not required.
