Job Summary and Qualifications

In coordination with hospital senior leadership, the director is responsible for integrating Burn and Wound Care services with the hospitals primary functions. The director will establish the strategic vision for the Burn Services function and develop, implement, oversee and evaluate the plans to meet that vision including Market Share strategies. The director coordinates and integrates services within their department(s) and with other departments. The director develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services. The director recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service and assures the qualifications and competence of those staff members (who are not licensed independent practitioners) meet the needs of patient care and non-patient care services. The director ensures orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in their department(s) is provided. The director continuously assesses and improves their department's performance and maintains appropriate quality control programs. The director recommends space and other resources needed by the department and participates in selecting outside resources needed by their department(s).

What you will do in this role:

  • In collaboration with the hospital senior leadership, Burn Center Medical Director, members of the medical staff, and board of trustees establishes a Strategic vision for service delivery.
  • Directs the development of financial and operational plans in conjunction with stakeholders. Ensures development of annual operating plan and budgets that support operations and contribute to fiscal health of Mission Hospital
  • Executes/Implements plans, measures and reports results, and recommends continuous improvement solutions that tie directly to Mission's strategic plans. Participates with leaders from management, medical staff and clinical area in planning, promoting and conducting surgical performance improvement activities.
  • Ensures that all operations (both direct and matrix reporting relationships) produce the necessary outcomes to support exceptional quality and safety of patient services as required by the level of acuity and patient mix
  • Ensures that clinical and ancillary support services through both direct and matrix reporting structures are organized, resourced, and delivered in a manner that optimizes services, care outcomes, and resource utilization.
  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with all stakeholders including physicians, staff and leadership.
  • Provides operational oversight and executive leadership for the Mission Hospital Burn and Wound program by meeting or exceeding key performance metrics: retention, productivity, patient experience, infection prevention, etc.
  • Accountable for optimal expense and productivity management outcomes of Mission's burn service operations
  • Ensures all team members fully understand and are empowered to deliver in order to achieve the target for safety, quality and patient satisfaction measures
  • Partners with clinical leadership to develop and implement clinical plans, policies and standards
  • Ensures strong team member engagement and ownership to achieve strategic objectives
  • Assists with growing performance across product lines.
  • Directly supervises designated department leaders, ensuring that the best leaders are performing in accordance with the facility's standards of leadership behavior and achieving the desired strategic and operational results for their areas of responsibility.
  • Identifies problems and issues and communicates them to the appropriate facility and Division individual(s) and recommends solutions.
What qualifications you will need:

Required Educations: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Exemptions may be approved with CNO System Council approval.

Preferred Education: Master's in Nursing

Required License/ Certifications:

  • Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON.
  • National Nursing Certification in area of specialty
  • BLS Healthcare Provider

Required Experience: 2 years Trauma experience, 3 years management experience

Preferred Experience: Burn / Wound-care experience
