The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmic Echographer 1 with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Ophthalmic Echographer 1 (OE1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasound echography instrumentation in compliance with department standards.

Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.

  • A-scan biometry and IOL Master
  • Contact/immersion A-Scan
  • High-resolution B-scan and standardized A-scan
  • Keratometry
  • Supervised globe and orbital exams
  • Performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasound echography instrumentation, documents procedures, and uploads scans in the electronic medical record/PACS system.
  • Provides patient-centric care. Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
  • Complies with regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
  • Completes the University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.
  • Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
  • Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
  • Meets daily productivity goals.
  • Performs organizational duties as assigned.
  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is in proper working order.
  • Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.
  • Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary. Works evenings and weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification and Licensing:

Experience:

1 year experience in ophthalmic ultrasound
