Grow Some Good is seeking a passionate and experienced Curriculum Coordinator to assist in several educational initiatives, including:

  • Development of a 9-week summer camp program that integrates Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and Social Science concepts for keiki in grades K-6
  • Creation of curriculum to support a pre-K Kumu Mea Kanu garden kit
  • Educational outreach materials as needed on subjects such as seed saving, nutrition, food preservation, and native plants.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in curriculum development, a deep understanding of SEL principles, and expertise in STEM education. Cultural knowledge of Hawaii is highly desirable to ensure the curriculum is culturally relevant and inclusive.

Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development:
  • Design a comprehensive 9-week summer camp curriculum for ages 5-12 that integrates SEL and STEM concepts seamlessly.
  • Create engaging lesson plans, activities, and projects for each age group (5-6), (7-8), (9-10), , that promote experiential learning and exploration.
  • Ensure alignment with Hawaii state educational standards and best practices in SEL and STEM education.
Cultural Integration:
  • Infuse Hawaiian culture, traditions, and values into the curriculum to foster cultural appreciation and understanding among camp participants.
  • Collaborate with local community members, cultural practitioners, and educators to incorporate authentic cultural experiences into the program.
Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with the Farm to School program manager, educators, and other stakeholders to design curriculum.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including schools, community organizations, and experts in SEL and STEM education, to enhance the quality and impact of the curriculum.
Training and Support:
  • Provide training and support to camp staff and volunteers to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum and delivery of engaging learning experiences.
  • Offer guidance to enhance the skills and knowledge of educators involved in the program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Environmental Studies, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in curriculum development, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in STEAM education concepts and instructional strategies.
  • Cultural knowledge of Hawaii and experience integrating cultural perspectives into educational programming.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for environmental education, sustainable food systems, and empowering youth.
