Classroom Support is happy to announce that we are currently supporting a fantastic Secondary School in Hornchurch.

The school is searching for an experienced, professional Learning Mentor who is confident supporting pupils with SEN and pupils who face Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

This is an excellent school that strives to remove the barriers to education faced by many pupils with SEN and those who exhibit challenging behaviour that occurs due to a variety of factors.

The school firmly believes in building a solid team that works hard together to get the best out of their students.

The ideal Learning Mentor will have a significant amount of experience supporting pupils with various forms of SEN such as ASC and ADHD and be confident working with challenging pupils and have a calm, but resilient personality.

The ideal Learning Mentor must be confident in their behaviour management skills.

The specifications of the role are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 3:30pm (term-time only).
  • £85-95 per day.
  • Weekly pay.
  • To supervise and provide educational support for pupils with SEN.
  • To utilise their experience in supporting challenging pupils.
  • To utilise effective behaviour management techniques.
  • To provide support for individual pupils inside and outside of class to help them interact with others and to engage in classroom activities.
  • To provide detailed and regular feedback about the pupil(s) to their teacher.
To start in March/April 2024.

The requirements of the role are as follows:

  • You must have a valid enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the update service) or be willing to pay for a new one (£52.20).
  • You must have previous experience supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in working in a SEMH setting or role.
  • Preferred candidates will have an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) qualification.
