General Summary of Position Medstar Health is looking for a Senior Endoscopy/Cysto Technician to join our team

The Senior Endoscopy/Cysto Technician will provide technical support to physicians and care to patients during endoscopic procedures and motility studies.

Maintains procedure room. Coordinates the usage, processing and maintenance of endoscopy instruments and equipment. Responsible for the care and preparation of endoscopy instruments and supplies. Maintains established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment; keeps accurate records.

Primary Duties:

Assists physicians during/with endoscopic procedures (e

g:
taking biopsies, advancing the scope, applying pressure to the abdomen, and performing electro cautery). Provides advanced technical support. Positions/repositions patient for the procedure(s). Enters clinical data into GI Quality Registry. Ensures accuracy of all data entered.
Assists with ordering and stocking of all needed supplies and medications. Assures all collected specimens are appropriately labeled and laboratory requisition forms are correctly completed. Assures all specimens are picked up by the laboratory daily. Reconciles pathology reports with specimen logbook daily.
Prepares room for endoscopic procedures by setting up for each case pertaining to the case needs. Maintains supplies in the room at levels as determined by the head nurse. Troubleshoots minor equipment problems in the Gastroenterology Lab; refers major equipment problems to Biomedical Engineering.

Provides support to patients as needed: discusses the upcoming procedure; explains what is transpiring during the procedure; and provides post-operative instructions.

Prepares and draws up non-controlled medication for the physician to administer. Assists in the training of the Endoscopy Technicians.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED, plus specialized and/or advanced clerical, technical or other vocational training acquired during - 2 years of additional job-related training.

May require the use of specialized medical equipment (i.e., EEG, EKG, blood analyzer), or data processing equipment (i.e., tape drives, consoles) or one year of Gastroenterology Technician training.

3-4 years' experience as an endoscopy technician or equivalent.

This position has a hiring range of $22.04 -$36.41
