Duties include but are not limited to the following;
Review of medical records, patient care, drug prescribing, and consultation requests.

Maintains an active knowledge of the patient care processes of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the medical center and its clinics.

Evaluates the patient to assess any changes in the physical status and make recommendations for continue care as needed.

Using the computerized medical record system for progress notes, orders, and medical record review and completion of such records in a complete and timely manner.

Have knowledge of and abide by Medical Center Bylaws, VHA Rules and Regulations and have a familiarization with existing VA specific clinical guidelines as well as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service rules, regulations and policies.

Expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.

Demonstrate behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and understanding and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude toward their patients, their profession.

Maintains a solid working relationship with peers.

Are expected to demonstrate both an understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is provided, and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve optimizing health care.

Demonstrate knowledge of outpatient services in physical medicine and rehabilitation, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, recreation therapy, social work, psychology, compensated work therapy, rehabilitation nursing care, as well as of established and evolving biomedical, clinical and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.

Assignment and evaluation of work including technical oversight to assure prompt and smooth delivery of care to patients.
Guides and manages clinics in respect to training, work assignments, performance, conduct, and patient welfare.

Preparation and submission of information and reports (hard copy or electronic) when requested or scheduled and ensure that high quality patient care is delivered in a resource efficient manner.

Monitors and promotes compliance with VHA regulations and professional standards and ethical conduct.
Assures compliance with regulations pertaining to internal and external professional activities
Monitors adherence to medical ethical standards and maintains a solid working relationship with peers.

Participates in performance improvement projects, strategic processes, peer reviews, service level / organization-wide teams and committees, Root Cause Analysis and other performance improvement activities as requested.

Participates in Department's Faculty / Staff meetings.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. This position may include some evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties

(Note:
Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The Physician (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs)
