THE JOB:

It is the primary responsibility of the Accountant at MMC is to perform varied accounting functions to include assisting with preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established company policies, preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and perform ad‐hoc accounting projects as requested by management.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Record transactional activity timely and accurately in the general ledger
  • Evaluate and implement internal controls so that processes are operating effectively
  • Provide necessary reporting on financial data, ensuring all requested reporting (ad‐hoc and routine) are completed in a timely manner and contain accurate information
  • Ensure accounting records and practices adhere to GAAP accounting policies and remain standard across all business units
  • Enhance internal customer service through the implementation of reporting and processing improvements maintaining a service‐oriented approach within all functional responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and international regulatory requirements including SOX, minimum internal control requirements, IRS, anti‐money laundering laws and internal control requirements
  • Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Ability to work in a high stress fast paced environment managing multiple tasks, projects and personnel simultaneously. Must possess ability to prioritize conflicting duties and maintain timeline integrity for projects and tasks
  • Strong organizational skills to function effectively while still maintaining attention to detail and meeting established deadlines
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting practices and theories
  • Clear understanding of change management. This should include participating in the development or implementation of solutions which require comprehensive shifts in operational practices
  • Determine appropriate strategies and business plans to meet performance requirements
  • Strive for continuous improvement. Proven ability to develop and execute innovative ideas, projects, and business solutions
  • Ability to guide design and strategy for use of electronic system tools to improve process, mine data, extract and report data
  • Strong team player that has a direct approach and is solution oriented
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
