Evansville Day School (EDS), in partnership with parents, offers a student-centered, college preparatory program supported by a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that encourages each student from Junior Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 to strive for excellence in mind, body, and human spirit. EDS was founded in 1946 and remains the only independent school in the Southwest Indiana (tri-state) region. The school enrolls approximately 300 students and boasts a 40- acre wooded campus, an impressively diverse student body, and 100% four-year college placement.

Our beautiful 40-acre campus has a soccer field, as well as practice fields. All EDS faculty and staff are asked to focus actions and decisions on what is best for the school and the students.

Job Summary: The Varsity Soccer Coach promotes the values of teamwork, competition, cooperation, good sportsmanship, love of physical activity, and fitness at EDS. To that end, they coordinate and oversee the high school soccer program and support the efforts of the younger soccer teams. They ensure compliance with conference rules and regulations, work with the Athletic Director on team finances and budgets, and lead any coaches added in support of their program. Perhaps above all else, the role of the Varsity Soccer coach is to ensure that the program, all players, and families are aligned with the mission of the school and in support of the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan practices and prepare the team for games to the best of their ability. Ensure supervision at detailed events.
  • Ensure all practices, games and other team activities are reported to the Athletic Director so that they can be posted to school calendars.
  • Represent the school at league and IHSAA meetings, where necessary and requested by the Athletic Director.
  • Support the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of all athletic facilities used by the team and report any maintenance, safety, and cleanliness concerns to the Athletic Director.
  • Report student records for end-of-season and end-of-year awards to the Athletic Director
  • Support the college and university recruitment process for interested student-athletes in partnership with the Athletic Director, the Head of Upper School, and the Director of College Counseling. Qualifications:
    • Previous experience coaching High School Soccer, preferred
    • Understanding of the developmental needs of players
    • Proven success at working collaboratively with other coaches and school staff
    • Excellent leadership skills
