QC Scientist I - Research Role
Are you a highly skilled and ambitious scientist seeking an opportunity to contribute to advanced research? Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is currently hiring a QC Scientist I to join our team in Florence, SC, USA. In this position, you will be responsible for performing moderately complex analyses in either a chemistry or microbiological environment. Your main tasks will involve conducting analytical methods for testing various types of samples, including raw materials, stability, production intermediates, and more.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct moderately complex chemical and physical testing on pharmaceutical raw materials, finished products, and stability samples using internally developed test methods.
- Perform approved test methods for pharmaceutical ingredients and final products using advanced techniques like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), dissolution, and spectroscopy.
- Recognize and report any out-of-specification or unexpected results, as well as non-routine analytical and product problems, providing recommendations for solutions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as necessary.
- Communicate test results accurately by creating documentation and reports in accordance with prescribed lab procedures and systems.
- Assist in filing regulatory documents and collaborate with external departments, corporate sites, agencies, and clients.
- Create and document standard procedures (SOPs) and other instructional materials.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of work area, instrumentation, and testing materials.
- Bachelor's degree in physical science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology.
- 0-2 years of experience performing tests or analyses for pharmaceutical raw materials, finished products, or microbiological samples.
- Good knowledge and understanding of chemistry and analytical instrumental technologies.
- Proficiency with HPLC, GC, LC/MS, and Dissolution techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Proficiency in writing effective operating procedures, protocols, and reports.
