POSITION SUMMARY

The Interim Director of the Upper School at Andrews Osborne Academy will focus on nurturing the academic and personal development of students while supporting faculty, staff, and families through the transition period. This role emphasizes maintaining the upper school's high standards across curriculum, instruction, and extracurricular activities. Reporting to the Head of School and being an active member of the Leadership Team, the Interim Director will ensure a seamless educational experience for students from 9th through 12th/Post Grad grade, in alignment with the academy's mission.

EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership:

Uphold and communicate the academy's mission, focusing on student needs, family engagement, and school goals during the transition.

Collaborate with the Head of School to maintain transparency and address the Upper School's immediate needs effectively.

Oversee the Upper School's operational aspects, including budget management and group collaborations, ensuring stability during the transition.

Faculty and Curriculum Support:

Work closely with faculty and Department Chairs to maintain a consistent and engaging curriculum, using technology to facilitate learning.

Provide clear guidance for faculty, offering support and facilitating professional development opportunities to ensure educational excellence continues.

Student Life and Family Engagement:

Strengthen connections with students and families, offering additional support and clear communication to navigate the transition smoothly.

Coordinate with educational staff to ensure a supportive and understanding approach to student discipline and personal development.

Community Involvement and Transitional Leadership:

Serve as a key representative for the Upper School, participating in school events and leadership meetings to advocate for students' and staff needs during the transition.

Liaise with program directors to ensure a holistic approach to student support and development, emphasizing collaboration and community.

Empowerment and Collaborative Governance:

Lead by example, supporting faculty and Department Chairs in their roles, encouraging shared decision-making and innovative teaching practices.

Utilize PNET to track student progress, engaging with parents and guardians openly to keep the community informed and involved.

Student Leadership and Involvement:

Encourage student leadership initiatives, supporting mentorship programs and councils that contribute positively to the school culture.

Involve students in the development of supportive policies, giving them a voice in their educational environment.

Continuous Review and Community Feedback:

Regularly assess the support policies' impact, incorporating feedback from faculty, students, and parents to adapt to emerging needs.

Recognize and celebrate community achievements, fostering a positive atmosphere during the transition.

Celebrate and publicly acknowledge positive developments in school culture and student behavior, reinforcing the importance of community contributions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proven experience in academic administration, ideally within an independent school setting.

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, with a preference for those with experience in a residential or boarding school environment.

At least 5 years of leadership experience in education, demonstrating a capacity for transitional management and student-centered leadership.

Experience working in a residential boarding school is a plus
