Knoxville, Tennessee, United States The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Department of Physics and Astronomy Full time

The Mannik Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher with a Ph.D. in physics or biophysics who is interested in energy-driven self-assembly processes in living systems.

Research: This research focuses on understanding the self-assembly of cell division machinery in E. coli. The work involves high-resolution and high-throughput microscopy, computational data analysis (including AI models), microfluidics, and bacterial cell biology.

Besides contributing to the ongoing project, you'll have the chance to shape our endeavors in developing state-of-the-art nano/microfabricated fluidic devices for live cell studies. The fabrication activities occur at nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory. You also have the opportunity to participate in our computational projects involving Frontier and Summit supercomputers.

Support: The project is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Location: The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is in a naturally beautiful area near the Smokey Mountains National Park and the Big South Fork National Recreation Area. Knoxville has a vibrant literary, arts, and music scene, a lively downtown, and affordable living.
