The Position
Cardigan Mountain School seeks an experienced and committed educator to serve as the art teacher for the school year. This is a full-time, 10-month position. The ideal candidate will bring a history of collaborative, self-directed work as well as experience teaching in an art classroom.
Specific Responsibilities
The Art Teacher will:
- Teach visual art classes
- Increase students' skillset and understanding of visual and/or digital arts
- Differentiate classroom instruction based on student readiness
- Coach two athletic seasons
- Participate in our clubs program
- Serve as an advisor to students
- Serve as a dorm parent Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Previous teaching experience in a middle school environment preferred but not required
- Demonstrated proficiency in subject area through previous coursework and/or experience
- Interest in and demonstrated skill in working with adolescent boys
- A shared commitment to an inclusive community, and respect for differences
