This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST (MI GAAF), Position Description Number
T7100000 and is part of the MI Camp Grayling, National Guard.

Serves as the Airfield Safety Program Manager with responsibility for the development, organization, and execution of the Airfield Pre-Accident Prevention Program, Wildlife Hazard Management Program, Flightline Driving Training Program, foreign object debris (FOD) management, hazard log tracking and management and analysis, and airfield inspections and checks in support of the Airfield Manager.

Primary area of responsibility covers the ground and aviation operations, equipment, and facilities within the boundaries of the Airfield in support of the Installation Aviation Safety Program.

• Provides technical advice to the Airfield Manager and his staff, commanders and staff of aviation units, and individual aviators regarding safety policies, practices, and procedures.
• Plans and conducts surveys and analysis of airfield facilities and operations to evaluate program effectiveness and degree of compliance with applicable mandates, standards, and directives; to develop changes or modifications to work processes and equipment; to recommend solutions to resolve conflicts in safety criteria; and to develop abatement plans to engineer out or control hazards.
• Conducts accident investigations and serves as a technical advisor on investigation boards to determine and analyze contributing factors, systems defects, command climate issues, performance errors, standard failures, and establishes corrective actions for each appropriate level of command having an effect.
• Develops material, schedules, coordinates, and conducts airfield safety council meetings, airspace and airfield safety briefings, safety training classes, and professional development classes.
