As a Principal Data Engineer I o­­n the this team, The Advanced Analytics group, has implemented and is operating a new advanced Big Data analytics platform that enables new self-service analytics, decision engineering support, machine learning, modeling, forecasting, and optimizations. Principal Data Engineer I is responsible for the guidance and architecture of the Advanced Analytics Platform. Create and maintain scalable, reliable, consistent and repeatable systems that support data operations for Advanced Analytics by gathering and processing raw data at scale. Profiles data to measure quality, integrity, accuracy, and completeness and delivers solutions by developing, testing, and implementing code and scripts. Management of the life cycle of multiple data sources and the increase in speed to deliver by implementing workload/workflow automation solutions.

  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Create and maintain scalable, reliable, consistent and repeatable systems that support data operations for Advanced Analytics.
  • Gather and process raw data at scale (including writing scripts, web scraping, calling APIs, write SQL queries, etc.).
  • Profile data to measure quality, integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Develop and implement tools, scripts, queries, and applications for ETL/ELT and data operations.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services.
  • Working ability to deliver solutions by developing, testing, and implementing code and scripts.
  • IP, DNS, DHCP, and security configuration and administration experience on Linux/Unix/CentOS and Windows.
  • Produce reports and uphold data delivery schedules.
  • Manage life cycle of multiple data sources.
  • Work closely with stakeholders on the data demand side (analysts and data scientists).
  • Work closely with stakeholders on the data supply side (domain experts on source systems of the data).
  • Builds self-monitoring, robust, scalable interfaces and data pipelines for 24/7 operations.
  • Creates highly reusable code modules and packages that can be leveraged across the data pipeline.
  • Increase speed to delivery by implementing workload/workflow automation solutions.
  • Communicate the costs and tradeoffs of ideas to top management.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Hands-on working experience with RDBMS, SQL, scripting, and coding – 7+ years
    • Experience delivering one major system where candidate was responsible for designing the architecture, implementing, operating, and supporting – 7+ years
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or computer science
  • Technical skills:
    • Extensive coding/scripting experience using Python, Perl, shell scripts, etc.
    • Extensive background in Linux/Unix/CentOS installation and administration
    • Expertise in data storage that demonstrates knowledge of when to use a file system, relational database, or NoSQL variant
  • Skills: Effective attention to detail with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
    • Ability to identify and resolve end-to-end performance, network, server, and platform issues
  • Travel Ability: Office Environment
  • Schedule:
    • Full time
    • This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with JavaScript API, Rest API or Data Extract APIs
  • Familiarity with data workflow/data prep platforms, such as Alteryx, Pentaho, or KNIME
  • Familiarity with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Experience receiving, converting, and cleansing big data
  • Experience with visualization or BI tools, such as Tableau, Zoom data, Microstrategy, or anything Microsoft Power BI
  • Create proof of concept experiments for analytics, machine learning, or visualization tools that include hypothesis, test plans, and outcome analysis
  • Extensive leadership experience in advanced operational analytics Windows experience
  • Extensive experience with SQL, MySQL, and other database technologies with NoSQL and columnar data store experience
  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline, computer engineering or computer science
  • Linux/Unix/CentOS system admin; Windows experience – 7+ years

The pay for this position has a salary range of $110,800.00 to $196,400.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
