Position Focus:

As a direct report to the Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer, Yale Investment Office and as a member of the office's operations and strategic leadership team, the Head of Business Affairs and Administration operates as the senior aide to the Chief Investment Office, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director team to advance the office's strategic planning, talent, and stakeholder engagement efforts. Develops and implements administrative policy in collaboration with the COO and key partners within YIO. Provides oversight for the central coordination of all functions and operations and administration of YIO with particular emphasis on several strategic administrative functions including: public relations and stakeholder management, talent strategy (including DEI, performance management, and culture), and office-wide processes. The expectation is this person drives the officewide strategic plan and manages directly the business affairs functions required to execute it. Essential Duties

1. Plans, directs, and manages designated administrative functions of the Yale Investments Office, responsible for supervising, training, and developing approximately ten staff members in the COO and administrative office. 2. Responds to daily requests from multiple constituents on behalf of the CIO, COO and Managing Directors, including responding to emergencies and urgent inquiries. Troubleshoots and prioritizes the flow of people and information to the CIO and COO; and represents the office's interest through contacts with units within YIO, within Yale and external to Yale. 3. Serves as a confidential resource for the COO, CIO and Managing Directors regarding developing issues and concerns. 4. Drives long-range planning for the Investments Office including multi-year commitments and budgets. 5. Oversee the talent management lifecycle (recruiting, onboarding, development, promotion, offboarding) and participates as a key organizer of reviews of promotions, projected searches, and diversity initiatives. 6. Works closely with the senior management team to ensure communication and follow-through with various projects and initiatives. 7. In conjunction with the Managing Directors, coordinates and carries out annual and special events for the Investment's office. Serves as liaison with various offices for annual activities and events. 8. Serves as the office's liaison to external YIO stakeholders, most notably the YDN, academic departments, and campus life through recruiting. 9. Writes and provides editorial oversight to materials for the CIO's signature or presentation, including substantive correspondence, reports, talking points, internal communications, etc. Edits written materials drafted for the CIO by other offices. Including work for the press and Yale Investment Committee. 10. Participate in key constituent meetings to ensure appropriate and responsive follow-up and accountability. 11. Oversees and directs a broad range of special projects and initiatives on behalf of the COO. Monitors and staff and ensure progress in COO-initiated activities. 12. Promotes and raises the profile and impact of the Investments Office to internal and external constituencies; facilitates superior stakeholder engagement; and serves as a liaison to key areas within the school to incorporate them into the school's research and communication goals.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and at least ten years of experience in financial services management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Direct people management (of teams at least 5+).

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Ability to create strategic plans (operational and financial) and drive them across an organization (commitments, metrics, expenses).

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Ability to create communication strategy (internal and external).

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to own HR, facilities, and/or office management processes.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Ability to directly support investors and operating executives.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Strong communications experience highly preferred. Strong HR/talent experience preferred.
