General Summary of Position
Serves as an informatics liaison among and taps into the expertise of clinical operations, bio engineering, information systems and venders to ensure system readiness. Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and the oversight of the clinical information system needs affecting neuroscience (neurology and neurosurgery) services across the system. Interfaces with senior level members of systemwide clinical departments including neurosciences, biomedical engineering, IS and supply chain operations to assure consistency in equipment acquisition, inventory management, chain of custody and budget. Monitors and evaluates opportunities for technical innovations and enhancements, ensuring that the applications and systems utilized are consistent with professional standards of best clinical practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required
  • Master's degree in Informatics or Information Management preferred
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible informatics job related experience required
  • Experience in systems analysis/programming, customer service, information systems, and/or project management preferred
  • Prior experience in an IS or clinical related role preferred
  • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

Licenses and Certifications

  • special certification, registration, or licensure preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • PROBLEM SOLVING: Job requires the highest level of problem solving. The work requires identifying and resolving complex problems, such as developing innovative solutions based on extensive cross-functional knowledge of the entire medical group.
  • INTERNAL CONTACTS: Internal contacts necessary to effectively negotiate, persuade, or present issues to others within the Hospital.
  • EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Frequent interactions with patients, family, and visitors. Frequent contact with corporate IS staff and IS managers at all levels of the organization. Occasional interaction with representatives from technology vendors, community agencies, credentialing agencies, and professional organization(s).
  • INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Work assignments are generally received in the form of broad goals for area(s) of responsibility and require considerable judgment regarding the interpretation of policies, development of procedures, and selection of appropriate courses of action.
