Summary

This position is located in USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The incumbent assists the District Conservationist in developing and carrying out a coordinated natural resources conservation program tailored to customers' needs and meeting NRCS requirements.



Duties
  • Work with farmers and other landowners to develop conventional conservation plans addressing resource concerns.
  • Provide information concerning Farm Bill and State Conservation Programs.
  • Assist in conducting necessary preliminary surveys as requested.
  • Perform informational duties such as writing stories; news articles; and giving talks at meetings.
  • Maintain working relationship with other federal, state, and local agencies, units of government, and interested groups; participates with applicable groups in meetings, tours, and demonstration projects to explain resource conservation planning.
  • Work with the District Conservationist to conduct environmental education on natural resource issues, water quality, and general conservation at workshops, seminars, and fairs.
  • Participate in meetings with the District Conservationist to coordinate work and prioritize where technical assistance will be provided.
  • Provide technical assistance to farmers and ranchers about Farm Bill conservation programs.
  • Provide assistance in administrative, fiscal, and technical responsibilities for a wide variety of Farm Bill and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) programs.
