JOB TITLE:

Assistant Lecturer of Stage Management and Production Management

JOB PURPOSE:

The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a one year, full-time (9-month) faculty appointment at the Assistant Lecturer rank in stage management and production management starting Fall Semester, 2024.

This individual will be responsible for serving as the Department Stage Manager and will participate in all department events and productions, with a minimum of 4 main season productions and 1 student production per academic year. They will oversee the stage management process for the season, stepping in to call/rehearsal stage manage as needed. Events and productions may include class-related projects, staged readings, workshops, guest productions, and onsite hosting of the annual Wyoming State Thespian Festival and the American College Dance Association Mountain Time Regional Conference.

In collaboration with the Department Head and the Production Advisory Committee, this individual is also tasked with facilitating the production season once it has been selected. This includes publicity, coordinating with the Business Center staff, implementing season calendar and student production scheduling, confirming event and performance locations, and coordinating with the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Program Coordinator and Presenter. Additional production management responsibilities include: organizing and managing production meetings; serving as the primary faculty contact for all student productions by coordinating student production management and fostering communication between students and the department faculty and staff; coordinating technical and dress rehearsals; coordinating production maintenance support once a show opens, and facilitating and managing departmentally sponsored events as needed.

As a faculty member in the Design, Production, and Management Area, this individual will support and actively engage in recruitment efforts of prospective Design, Production, and Management (DPM) students; mentor DPM students; provide service to the department, college, university, and State of Wyoming; and support and participate in outreach and in-reach activities of the department.

High standards of quality are expected in productions of all scopes where the environment created must show high quality work. A successful candidate must be able to work productively and collaboratively with the director/choreographer, members of the production team, and student stage managers and assistant stage managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Individuals will teach the stage management curriculum, mentor student stage managers and assistant stage managers, and provide supervision for all stage management teams. Other teaching assignments will be based on department needs and individual experience. Successful candidates must be available, willing, and able to work evenings and weekends based on the production schedule.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree with stage management experience.
Classroom teaching experience at the college or university level.
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated effective teaching at the undergraduate level.
Demonstrated excellence with professional and collegial experience as a production stage manager or stage manager in dance.
Demonstrated excellence with professional and collegial experience as a production stage manager or stage manager in theatre and musical theatre.
Ability to read music.
Demonstrated experience mentoring or ability to mentor student stage managers.
Demonstrated understanding of professional unions like Actor's Equity Association or union membership.
Production management experience.
