We are seeking a highly qualified Aircraft Mechanic with Inspection Authorization (IA) to join our team and lead the maintenance operations for our esteemed flight school fleet.

Position Overview: The Aircraft Mechanic with Inspection Authorization (IA) will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of our aircraft fleet. This individual will lead a maintenance team, including an A&P mechanic and apprentices, to conduct inspections, diagnose, repair, and maintain general aviation aircraft in compliance with FAA regulations. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Requirements:

Must have Airframe and Powerplant Certification and Inspection Authorization (IA) issued by the FAA.
Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in general aviation maintenance, including piston aircraft.
Proven leadership abilities and experience in managing a maintenance team.
Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and their functioning.
Familiarity with tools and testing methods used for aircraft maintenance.
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow manual instructions for complex mechanical issues.
Detail-oriented with a keen eye for identifying defects and irregularities.
Manual dexterity and physical strength to operate tools effectively.
Excellent communication skills for discussing equipment malfunctions and completing reports.
Visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.
Ability to learn new repair skills and methods.
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and schematics.
Experience with power tools and equipment repair.
Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software is a plus.
Prior experience working in an AS9100 certified environment.
Ability to work the AM shift from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, aka 1st Shift.

Responsibilities:

Perform regular maintenance tasks on aircraft, including oil changes and 100-hour inspections.
Keep detailed records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and services performed.
Inspect and examine entire aircraft and systems to identify and address cracks, corrosion, or other defects.
Consult maintenance manuals and publications to determine the correct procedures for replacements and repairs.
Undertake sheet metal repairs as necessary.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the maintenance hangar.
Collaborate with the Lead AMT, Maintenance Manager, and other team members to ensure efficient operations.
Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints to maintain and repair aircraft systems.
Conduct regular inspections following Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for maintenance tasks.
Adhere to AS9100 quality standards for aircraft maintenance.

Skills:

Proficiency in performing basic inspections and repairs on aircraft.
Ability to work in confined and awkward positions, as well as on scaffolding or ladders.
Physical capability to lift and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
Capacity to work well in a team and adhere to safety protocols.
Passion for aircraft maintenance and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Ability to take direction from supervisors and team members (whether senior or not).
Knowledge and skill-set to work autonomously as well as with a team.

Ability to follow instructions, learn, understand, and comply with maintenance procedures, rules, and regulations.
Must be able to write accurate and complete summaries of work accomplished on required forms and sign to verify that the work was performed as indicated.

Physical Abilities:

Must be able to perform strenuous work requiring lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects in excess of 100 lbs occasionally and objects in excess of 50 lbs regularly.
Must be able to perform all job functions within cramped and confined spaces and in hazardous areas.
Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods of time.
