Physician (Critical Care and Pulmonary)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment):
EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive. Contact VISN 15 EDRP, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
The Physician will participate in and/or manage all aspects of a general pulmonary/critical care program, to include clinical, administrative, academic, and research components if warranted.
Teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
Practice includes outpatient and inpatient sleep services and/or outpatient and inpatient pulmonary consultation and medical intensive care unit staffing.
May be a joint appointment with the University of Missouri School of Medicine-Columbia.
Pulmonary procedures to include PFT interpretation, bronchoscopy, EBUS bronchoscopy, conducting outpatient pulmonary clinics, performing inpatient pulmonary consults, providing medical ICU coverage, performing critical care medicine procedures, and performing critical care consults.
Robotic Bronchoscopy with Cone-Beam CT scan guidance for lung nodule biopsy
Electromagnetic Navigational bronchoscopy
Endobronchial Ultrasound for lymph node biopsies
CT guided percutaneous lung biopsy
CT guided chest tube placement
CT guided guidewire placement
Cone Beam CT guided- percutaneous lung biopsy
Rigid bronchoscopy and tumor debulking
Argon plasma coagulation, Holmium laser, cryotherapy, electrocautery, electrocautery snare
Foreign body retrieval using rigid and flexible bronchoscopy
Airway stent placement - metallic stents, icast stents, silicone stents including silicone Y stents
CBCT guided Cryobiopsy
Endobronchial valve for bronchoscopic lung volume reduction
Endobronchial valve for persistent air leak
Bronchial thermoplasty for asthma
Thoracentesis, chest tube placement (surgical and pigtail catheters), pleurodesis and indwelling pleural catheter placement for pleural effusions
Rigid Medical thoracoscopy for pleural effusions
Percutaneous tracheostomy
Awake bronchoscopy
Whole lung lavage
Montgomery T-tube placement
Transtracheal oxygen catheter placement
Ultrasound guided supraclavicular node biopsies
4D Medical Imaging
Experience in leading a lung cancer screening program
The selected provider will be able to actively participate with the and/or pulmonary critical care medicine fellowship program, and other duties as assigned.
Board eligible or board certification in pulmonary medicine, interventional pulmonary, and critical care medicine
