General Position Description
The overall responsibility of the Career Pathway Coach is to provide academic advising and support to the students enrolled at Technical College Campuses with the transition plan to pursue an A.S. degree Program at Valencia College. Such advising shall include collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders in identifying and upholding the integrity of the academic programs including local articulations, SACS requirements, student success, and Valencia College policies and procedures.

1. Work closely with academic departments to ensure the accuracy of the current and future program listing and content in the college catalog.

2. Work closely with the academic deans and faculty with the development of course offerings at the Technical College Campuses.

3. Assist in developing, maintaining and revising articulation agreements with Technical College Campuses.

4. Work collaboratively with Deans, faculty, and Office of Curriculum and Assessment to prepare the appropriate Substantive Change documents for SACS submission.

5. Work closely with Institutional Research preparing a database to include students and program of study information.

6. Assist students with setting goals and planning for college transition.

7. Follow up with students to encourage progress towards meeting goals.

8. Meet with students in groups and individually to identify and connect prior learning to degree completion.

9. Provide assistance to students to solve issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence, attendance, etc.

10. Coordinate and refer students for services that will help students overcome educational barriers.

11. Maintain and update regularly a resource library of information on careers and college programs to share with students and connect resources in daily work and interactions.

12. Conduct follow up with program participants and offer advisement as needed.

13. Develop relationships with college staff and other training providers to stay abreast of community needs in order to provide students with up-to-date and accurate information.

14. Work collaboratively with instructional and advising staff at Technical College Campuses and promotes cross- collaboration.

15. Establish and maintain effective working partnerships with key stakeholders, including Tech College campuses, Valencia college departments such as academic divisions, financial aid, admissions, disability services, and others.

16. Maintain electronic advising data and management files to report contact hours and number of students served.

17. Attends all meetings with Technical College Campuses and Valencia.

18. Participate in Career and Recruitment Fairs relevant to key career pathways. Work with the Transitions Planning Team on campus programming.

19. Assist students with their selected Program of Study and advice on the accelerated pathways to Valencia degree programs.

20. Assist students with Valencia Admission process and the development of My Educational Plan.

21. Review the student's transcript and assist with the Valencia's award of credit process.

22. Advise students with the Valencia's course selection and registration.

23. Advise students with the Financial Aide requirements and available scholarships at Valencia College.

Working Conditions

General Working Conditions
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
