Project Manager

The Associate Project Manager (APM) plans, facilitates, organizes and motivates project teams in order to achieve exceptional performance & quality, and deliver agile projects that provide exceptional business value to Vitu customers. This position will use a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile development approach to execute and deliver on the product roadmap.
Essential Functions:
Project Planning and Management -

  • Collaborate with product management and key stakeholders to define the scope of each software release consistent with the product roadmap
  • Organize and lead project status and daily working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; frequently demonstrate progress through clear communication to key stakeholders
  • Identify and manage risks & issues, correct deviations from plans
  • Perform release and upgrade planning for assigned projects

Team Management -

  • Assist in mentoring and developing the product and development team using coaching methodology while holding teams accountable for their commitments
  • Remove roadblocks in teams' work; leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work with business demand

Project Support -

  • Responsible in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance

Process Management and Improvement -

  • Drive process improvement in software development and test methodologies such as TDD (test driven development), Test Automation, and Continuous Integration
  • Champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Project Management
  • Ensure adherence to the PMO processes as defined by the organization

Team Building -

  • Coach members of the team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the project team
  • Encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team
  • Recognize team strengths develop an environment where critical and honest feedback is valued

Qualifications (Experience and Education)

  • BA/BS in any of the following: Computer Science, Engineering, Marketing, Psychology or related technical /data analysis field; other degrees acceptable with consideration of demonstrated experiences and qualifications.
  • Minimum of three-years hands-on experience working with SCRUM/Agile and Waterfall methodologies for enterprise-level application development projects.
  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies, including two or more years of experience as a Project Manager managing complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
  • PMI-ACP, CSM, or PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 10-15 team members including Developers, Business Analysts, and QA teams.
  • Appropriate level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and equally appropriate level of business background to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities that will differentiate candidates for this position: Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and technical teams at all levels including the executive level.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence or equivalent.
  • Understanding and experience using Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture" view.
