The Spray Technician will be responsible for the correct calibration, mixing and application of all fertilizers and pesticides applied to greens, tees, fairways, rough and any other areas as directed by the Superintendent He or she will assist in the direction of the staff and team members, and complete related work as required. Job Expectations Include:
  • Assist in implementing the agronomic plan developed by the Golf Course Superintendent
  • Must be a self-starter that can work independently and efficiently with limited supervision
  • Highly motivated, team-oriented individual
  • Ability to work well with others, including but not limited to Spanish speaking team members
  • Adheres to policies and procedures outlined in the Kiva Dunes Employee Handbook
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
Job Tasks Include:
  • Calibration and operation of sprayer and spreader equipment
  • Fertilizer and pesticide understanding including applications and recording
  • Assists in daily course operations (mowing, spraying, fertilizing, course set-up, hand watering, etc.)
  • Instructs equipment operators on the use and care of mowers and other equipment
  • Ability to identify turf grass disease, weeds, and nutrient deficiencies
  • Operates the irrigation control system in accordance with the Superintendent's guidelines in addition to repairing the irrigation system, pipes and heads as needed
  • Maintains compliance with all local, State and Federal laws pertaining to chemical storage, handling, applications and disposal
  • Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism with members and guests
  • Supervises a small labor force for special projects and performs other managerial duties as directed by the Superintendent

One year of golf course maintenance or landscape experience

Valid drivers license

Ability to obtain an Alabama Pesticide Applicators license
