Xavier High School is seeking a Campus Minister to join its Campus Ministry department.

Founded in 1847, Xavier High School is an academically rigorous, Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory school in New York City that educates intelligent, motivated young men of diverse backgrounds and means. Xavier teaches students to take responsibility for their lives, to lead with integrity, to act justly in service of others, to pursue excellence in every endeavor and to deepen their relationship with God. Ultimately, Xavier forms young men who will go forth to transform the world for God's greater glory.

Xavier High School is searching for a campus minister to join our collaborative Campus Ministry department.

As a member of the Campus Ministry staff, you will be responsible for guiding and accompanying our students to grow in a faith that does justice.


Responsibilities of the position include:

Coordinating and facilitating the full-class freshman retreat and seven overnight sophomore retreats - including preparing and training adult and student retreat leaders Planning liturgical and prayer opportunities for the school community Planning and facilitating the growing RCIA program for students seeking full participation in the Church Engaging and encouraging students to a deeper sense of Xavier's Catholic and Ignatian identity through initiatives that support Catholic social teaching, prayer, service, and a faith that does justice (Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice, our Companions of Francis Xavier service and immersion programs) Teaching two sections of students in the Religion Department

The ideal candidate should be a practicing Catholic with an active personal prayer life, an understanding of the components of planning Catholic liturgy, an understanding of adolescent spiritual and emotional development as it pertains to retreat giving, an openness and capacity to help students on their faith journeys, Catholic and non-Catholic, and a deep commitment to fostering an environment that promotes faith, justice, and accompaniment.

In addition to having excellent written and verbal communication skills, an attractive candidate will also meet the following criteria:

A Master's degree in theology, religion, or Catholic studies preferred The ability to successfully manage a number of projects simultaneously Developed interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and communication in a team environment Crafted classroom management and effective classroom instruction experience Enthusiasm for the work of ministry in a Catholic, Jesuit environment We are looking for a Campus Minister to begin in September of 2024.
