Summary

This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service, Pacific West Area, Northwest Sustainable Agroecosystems Research Unit in Pullman, WA.

In this position, you will be responsible for developing sustainable crop and soil management systems for agricultural lands in the Inland Pacific Northwest.



Duties
  • Evaluate the performance of crops under diverse environments and changing climates.
  • Ascertain the impact of land management practices on crop performance including yield and biomass production, weed occurrence and prediction, and the fate of water and nutrients in soils.
  • Simulate the complex interactions of climate, soils, and management on carbon/nitrogen/phosphorus transformations and transport in the Palouse landscape of the Inland Pacific Northwest.
  • Utilize computing facilities and laboratory and field data to ascertain the impact of changes in climate and management systems on crop performance and ecosystem services.
  • Develop crop/weed/soil models for evaluating the impact of climate change and management practices on crop growth and production and fate of mass and energy across complex landscapes.
