The Director of Development and Community Engagement (DDCE) is responsible for the parent and donor experience at IST. They are the stewards of key stakeholder relationships and the operational leader responsible for events, activities and volunteers within the school community. They support the Head of School in forming the vision and strategy behind the school's advancement activities and for operationalizing the institutions plans.


Opportunities:
The DDCE is arriving at an exciting time for the school community. Construction on a new, $20M campus will be completed in the summer of 2024, enabling the school to grow its enrollment to new levels. The school community is composed of highly-committed, eager, and supportive families who are ready to help grow the school to its full potential in the coming years. The school's annual fund outperforms expectations for its size, with back-to-back record years in total donations. The school is also in the preparation stages for launching a capital campaign, the design of which the DDCE will be heavily involved. As a newly created position, the incoming DDCE will have great freedom to craft a development and engagement model that best serves the community and helps to create a culture of philanthropy at the school through gifts of time, talent, and donations.


About the School:
The International School of Texas is a young, private, international school located in the western suburbs of Austin serving students ages 3 – Grade 9. Building from a decade of growth from a small, family school to a mid-sized institution, the school is in an exciting season of growth and development. In Autumn of 2024, the school will move into a brand-new facility that is currently completing construction at our Bee Cave campus. This building project will increase the school's enrollment capacity to 350 students as well as provide space for the addition of a high school program. Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a skilled relationship builder, strategic thinker, and self-starter. They have experience in cultivating relationships with donors, designing fundraising campaigns, event planning and management, and coordinating volunteers. They have a passion for independent school education, especially within a global community. They are skilled at operationalizing plans and generating stakeholder buy-in through vision setting and engagement.

Responsibilities:

Development:

Collaborate with the Head of School and CFO to define and achieve annual and multi-year fundraising goals.

Develop a holistic fundraising plan including annual, major, and planned giving programs, in addition to support from foundations, corporations, and the greater Austin community.

Foster relationships with key members of the community, including Trustees, and leverage existing networks to increase gifts of time, talent, and donations.

Bring a suite of best practices to the development activities and norms within the school and remain up-to-date with the professional advancement community.

Serve as a visible leader in the community who promotes the importance of development and engagement in supporting the school and achieving its mission.

Community Engagement:

Serve as the primary coordinator for parent volunteer activities within the school community.

In collaboration with the administrative team, design, plan, and implement various school events and activities throughout the year.

In collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator and the Director of Admissions, ensure that the school's outward facing narrative and materials support and align with the schools mission and strategic direction.

Represent the school within various professional and local communities through participation in events, fairs, conferences, and meetings.
Requirements:

Some travel required as necessary

Evening and weekend events as required

Valid driver's license

All candidates must pass a background check


Qualifications:
Required:

Bachelor's Degree

3-5 years' experience in a related field or position


Desired:

Experience with private or independent schools

Experience with international education

Experience with capital campaigns

Experience with major gifts
