As the Clinic Director, Surgery, you will provide direction and administrative leadership for UCLA Health's Department of Surgery operations and clinics.

The role will report to the Chief of Operations, Community Clinics for UCLA Health and work very closely and directly with the Executive Medical Director and Chair for the Department of Surgery.

The Clinic Director performs the management function of assigned clinics and operations, including direct supervision of all staff providing patient services regardless of whether the staff are health system or departmental employees.

Additionally, they will oversee clinical operations including meeting the requirements for compliance, patient satisfaction, patient safety and quality and supervision of staff in accordance with UCLA Health policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

The role will also include monitoring clinic productivity, billing practices, audit requirements, equipment maintenance, and IT services necessary for the success of the Surgery clinics and programs.

Lastly, the role will help execute strategic plans for expansion and assists in implementing the strategic plan of UCLA Health as it relates to the Department of Surgery.

QualificationsRequired:


  • Master's degree (Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public health or related field) or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Healthcare managerial experience
  • Strategic leadership, planning and change management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of diplomacy in persuading and influencing a wide variety of people at various levels to achieve results.
  • Previous demonstrated expertise in managing patient services and nursing staffing in environment with a high volume of patient visits.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze all pertinent information/data to make and communicate decisions to meet the unit's current and future needs.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and political acumen skills.
  • Ability to establish a culture of integrity within their unit and with those external to the units.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, trends and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations and procedures to define objectives, identify patterns, and formulate conclusions.
  • Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, residents, medical students and staff from various social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Skill in communication, to clearly convey complex problems and proposals in both formal and informal situations.
  • Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with a patient population in varying degrees of health.
  • Working knowledge of research-oriented patient care systems (preferred)
  • Advanced financial expertise in budget planning and financial forecasting in healthcare (preferred).
Knowledge of EPIC EHR (preferred)
