As a Barclays Lead Rapid Application Developer, your main function of the team is to provide pricing & risk management services and tooling. A wide range of technologies are in use including a high-performant and home-grown functional programming environment called FMD, which integrates with Microsoft Excel particularly well and is used as a back-bone for many activities of the group. Python, Excel/VBA, C# & Angular are key technologies used within the group, but ultimately, it's the front office needs.

Salary / Rate Minimum: $155,000

Salary / Rate Maximum: $225,000

What will you be doing?
• Managing a team of developers in New York up to five employees, working on 50% development and 50% support/ team management
• Making technical decisions that require a deep understanding of the problem domain, specifically improving and designing new solutions around risk generation
• Developing modern solutions to remediate legacy usage of Excel based tools
• Developing high quality maintainable code, in a variety of languages; including C#, python, SQL and an in house Barclays functional language FMD
• Collaborating and communicating with other developers and stakeholders across 3 regions, AMER EMEA and APAC. Working closely with other RAD leads in EMEA
• Developing methods, tools and standards and keeping this knowledge current (i.e. desire to learn)
• Adhering to Policies & Standards appropriate to the role - outlined in the Code of Conduct and mandatory training

What we're looking for:
• Proven team leadership record, managing highly productive development teams
• Experience with software architecture in a variety of business domains, Marketa data, valuation, or risk platforms Equity Derivatives highly preferable
• Experience with a variety of programming language stacks, both object orientated and functional, pricing/ risk of Derivative financial instruments
• Experience of working within a trading floor based, highly Front Office facing role, directly supporting Business users

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience of working with distributed systems
• Experience building systems in trading, banking and / or financial organizations
• Experience of developing complex Excel based applications

Where will you be working?

You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
