Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, with an occasional Saturday clinic or a weekday extended hour clinic; however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center.


Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Urologists are trained physicians with significant experience in the field of urologic surgery. They provide both clinical and administrative urologic services at the VA Northern California Health Care System {VA NCHCS). Urologists are MD physicians who have completed four years of medical school followed by a 5-year urology residency, training in all aspects {basic, intermediate, and advanced) of urologic care.

Many VHA urologists undergo additional years of training, including one-to-three-year fellowships in oncology, reconstruction, pediatrics, female, endoscopy, and robotic surgery, which allows them to bring specialized expertise to our Veterans.

The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Examining, diagnosing, and treating patient conditions and disorders of the genitourinary organs and tracts.
Documenting and reviewing patients' histories.
Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests .
Using specialized equipment, such as X-rays, fluoroscopes, and catheters.
Performing abdominal, pelvic, or retroperitoneal surgeries when necessary.
Treating lower urinary tract dysfunctions.
Prescribing and administering antibiotics, antiseptics, or compresses to treat infections or injuries.
Prescribing medications for patients with erectile dysfunction, infertility, or ejaculation problems.
Providing Urology consultations or referring patients to specialists.
Directing nurses, residents, or other staff.

The physician is expected to document into CPRS in a timely manner, participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and participate in bi-annual Medical Staff activity including committee participation.

Administrative duties are general oversight of the operations of the Urology Clinic including but not limited to provide providing efficient patient management, supervision of urology residents and other administrative activity.

Physician is expected to maintain Joint Commission readiness.

Clinical:
Provide specialist care for male and female urinary tract conditions as well as conditions affecting the male reproductive organs.

Administrative:
Document all medical information in an electronic medical record.

The physician is expected to document into CPRS in a timely manner, participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and participate in bi-annual Medical Staff activity including committee participation.


Customer Service:
Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions.

Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.


Age Specific Criteria:


Possesses knowledge of age-related changes in disease, pharmacology and in the general care and management of elderly patients and applies this knowledge in assigned patient care and education responsibilities.
