Math and Science Teacher

Winston Preparatory School is searching for excellent candidates for a full-time Math and Science Teacher at the Norwalk, CT campus. Candidates should experience teaching diverse learners. Experience with math concepts from middle school through Algebra 2 is desired. Experience with special education is a plus. Winston Preparatory School is a co-ed day school for 5th through 12th grade students with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders and executive functioning problems. Our mission is to facilitate the independence of individuals with learning difficulties through assessment-driven individualized education, research and outreach.

Our unique educational program for 5th-12th grade students with learning differences is designed to develop essential skills and challenge his or her strengths. As part of our learning program, every student benefits from the Focus Program , in which each student receives a daily period of one-to-one instruction concentrating on his or her greatest area of need. The implementation of the program allows us to further personalize instruction and strategies so that our students can better understand themselves, as well as verbalize their needs to become independent learners.

Focus teachers provide individualized remediation for students struggling with a wide-range of learning differences, while coordinating and facilitating consistent communication between classroom teachers and families. Content teachers deliver instruction in core content areas (Math, Science, English/Language Arts, History/Social Studies, etc.) with a focus on flexibly integrating a wide range of skills and content tailored to the individual needs of student class groupings.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment. Candidates must also have excellent writing and communication skills.
