Reporting organizationally to the Director of Sustainability & Human Rights, the Workers' Rights & Supply Chain Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Sustainability & Human Rights team, and work in close collaboration with the FIFA Sustainability & Environment, Human Rights & Anti-Discrimination and the Safeguarding & Child Protection Departments in Zurich and other key individuals across the three Hosting Countries responsible for delivering the FIFA World Cup 26 Sustainability & Human Rights Strategy. Under the framework of this strategy, the Workers' Rights & Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the sustainable procurement objective and initiatives.
THE POSITION

The main responsibilities of the Workers' Rights & Supply Chain Manager are the development and implementation of leading operational and sustainable procurement practices in supply chains managed directly by FIFA in the three Host Countries, based on the requirements of the FIFA Sustainable Sourcing Code. This will include:
  • Coordinate with and advise Functional Areas on socially and environmentally responsible supply-chain related operations practices and protocols
  • Develop sustainable procurement management policies, procedures, processes and tools in line with UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the requirements of ISO 20400 and ensure that they are integrated into the overall procurement system. This will include:
    • Management of labor relations supply chain risk assessment,
    • Supplier management tools, capacity building and engagement of internal and external stakeholders,
    • Monitoring and evaluation of responsible supply chain performance,
    • Reporting and knowledge transfer
  • Coordinate, support and advise on the implementation of the FIFA Sustainable Sourcing Code and sustainable operational and procurement practices across the FIFA offices in the three Hosting Countries. This will include but will not be limited to ensuring:
    • Effective management of labor relations
    • Robust demonstration of commitments to respecting human and labor rights of any FIFA 26 contractor in accordance with FIFA's Human Rights Policy;
    • Decent working conditions and fair recruitment for workers along supply chains by fully complying with internationally recognized standards on forced labor, human trafficking, labor rights, child labor, non-discrimination, gender equality, harassment and abuse, freedom of association of collective bargaining, fair wages, working hours, contracts, health and safety and migrant workers ́ rights
    • Appropriate management of environmental issues and natural resources along the supply chain, particularly focusing on GHG and other air emissions, waste and water management, biodiversity conservation and use of chemicals
    • Strengthening local and regional value chains and business development with a focus on underreached communities
    • Appropriate business conduct and transparency along the supply chain, according to all relevant legislation and international best practice
  • Ensure integration of responsible operational and sourcing processes and requirements across all stages of the procurement cycle. This entails working closely with internal functional areas and external parties (suppliers, stakeholders, auditors, licensees, etc.) to:
    • Identify environmental sustainability as well as human and labor rights risks associated with categories of supply.
    • Integrate relevant requirements in Request for Proposals.
    • Participate in technical evaluation of proposals.
    • Integrate relevant requirements in supplier agreements and contracts and further engage to ensure fulfillment.
    • Monitor, measure and analyze performance across requirements and maintain records.
    • Implement awareness raising and capacity building activities with staff, suppliers, licensees and others, engage with third parties to monitor contract fulfillment and corrective action plan implementation, where needed.
    • Engage with labor rights groups and unions and engage with relevant local, regional and international stakeholders to assess risks and exchange knowledge to leave a positive legacy.
  • Support the maintenance of an effective sustainability management system for the tournament in line with the requirements of ISO

YOUR PROFILE

Minimum requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in developing, implementing and overseeing sustainable operation practices and procurement policies and processes on environmental as well as human and labor rights topics.
  • Proven track record of generating productive stakeholder relationships that successfully deliver socially and environmentally responsible operational and procurement outcomes.
  • Experience in working in or engaging with labor rights groups and unions.
  • A passion for environmental sustainability and human rights.
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability (human rights, labor rights, environment, business ethics etc.) issues, particularly related to international supply chains.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in working with international standards such as ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian, Mexican and US laws and regulations in relation to environmental as well as human and labor rights topics.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-tier, global supply chains.
  • Knowledge of international social and environmental audit standards.
  • Experience in sustainability performance management, reporting and communications.
  • Experience of working in dynamic, fast-moving, complex, fixed timeline, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Development and delivery of capacity-building programs for internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred additional experience:
  • Technical knowledge of international supply chain management tools.
  • Experience in implementing on-site social and environmental supplier audits.
  • Experience working in the field of sports and events and, in particular, mega sporting events.
  • Experience working with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • International work experience.
  • Proficiency in widely-used procurement software.
