Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Graduate Resident Director (GRD). Under the guidance and supervision of the Resident Director (RD), GRD will provide general support in developing and supervising a residence hall community. The GRD will assist with the direction of a residence hall community or manage the daily operations of a smaller residence hall.

Responsibilities

Specific duties will vary depending on assignment and the needs of the department and include:
  • Supervise or assist with supervision of 4-16 paraprofessionals.
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of student staff.
  • Participate in on-call duty rotation, providing 24-hour crisis response.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the residential curriculum.
  • Advise leadership council.
  • Promote restorative justice through educational conversations.
  • Assist with or coordinate front desk operations.
  • Assist with or coordinate housing operations, including follow-up on maintenance needs, as well as maintaining key control and room condition reports.
  • Assist with opening, closing, and finals week activities.
  • Participate in the on-call duty rotation and maintain availability and visibility during non-business hours for night, weekend, and holiday programming and events.
  • Other duties as assigned, including various administrative tasks needed for operating a residence hall.
  • Participate in at least one additional committee/departmental area as assigned. Some options could include:
    • Student Staff Recruitment & Selection Committee
    • Student Staff Training & Development Committee
    • Diversity & Social Justice Committee
    • Academic Success Committee
Required Qualifications
  • Candidate must be currently applying to, or accepted to a recognized graduate program at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must be enrolled in at least 6 graduate credits per semester
Schedule

Expected hours to work per week: 30

This is an 11-month position.

Compensation Grade

Graduate Assistant:

Studio loft apartment and meal plan are provided as part of the compensation.
