We currently have an opening for a Maintenance Technician for a large multinational food manufacturer. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 years in the maintenance field or a combination of one year of college or trade school in an equivalent field. Proven mechanical skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines is a must in past employment. Location Ellington, CT Pay Rate Starting at $20.00 Shift 3rd Shift – Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm-6:00am Job Summary of a Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician Repairs and maintains food-grade machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines, and other facilities equipment.
Responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician:
- Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
- Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Diagnoses problems, replace or repair parts, tests, and adjusts.
- Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Accomplishes preventative maintenance (PM) and practices continuous improvement so that production equipment achieves production goals.
- Executes PM tasks on schedule to ensure prevention of future downtime.
- Follows through on PM tasks and line work findings to continually improve equipment reliability.
- Ensures changes in schedules, material availability, and line operations do not prevent PMs from
- being completed.
- Detects faulty operations, defective materials, and reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills of a Maintenance Technician:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to operate complex and basic tools.
- Proven mechanical skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and completes work in a timely manner.
- Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and react well under pressure.
- Extremely accurate and detail oriented.
Education & Experience of a Maintenance Technician:
- One year certificate from college or technical school; OR two to three years related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, climbing, and lifting tools and materials.
- Must be able to bend, squat, reach and stretch.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
