The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Illinois at Chicago is recruiting a qualified individual for full-time, tenure-track, clinical faculty position in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.

Candidates should be committed to working within an active academic department with clinical, teaching, and academic/research responsibilities as well as team physician responsibilities including Division 1 athletics.

The position will provide clinical care within the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System, as well as direct and observational teaching and training to residents, fellows, and medical students.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include direct, operative and non-operative, patient care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries; supervision, instruction, and training of residents, fellows, and medical students; curriculum development and education within the field of orthopaedic sports medicine; team physician coverage at a Division 1 University with additional other coverage opportunities; as well as participation in the academic functions of the Department or Orthopaedics, the College of Medicine, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be MD/DO trained with board eligibility progressing to board certification in orthopaedic surgery; with fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine progressing to a certificate of added qualification in orthopaedic sports medicine; and must either be currently licensed as a physician in the State of Illinois, or able to obtain a license in advance of starting the position.

Experience and interest in hip arthroscopy, arthroscopic shoulder interventions, and cartilage restoration, is strongly preferred. Applicants must be ABOS board-certified or board-eligible with ABOS added certificate in orthopaedic sports medicine.
