\tSummary:

This position requires accurate and accountable performance of all necessary duties to ensure safe and efficient operations in the fermentation and distillation areas of the facility.

This position works under the immediate supervision of the Operations Manager and functionally reports to the Team Leader at the location.

\tResponsibilities:
\r

\t\r
\t\tGain an introductory knowledge of all facets of the ethanol process including: cook, distillation, evaporation, dryers, thermo oxidizer, centrifuges, grain system, and water treatment.\r
\t\r
\t\tLearn about the DCS (computer control system) for the plant. Will not be directly responsible for operating the controls, but will learn how to interact with the DCS system.\r
\t\r
\t\tFollow Standard Operating Procedures for plant start-up, shut down, cleaning and batching.\r
\t\r
\t\tStay within operating parameters set by Plant/Production Manager and notify management of any production problems.\r
\t\r
\t\tKeep accurate and timely logs.\r
\t\r
\t\tWork with a full time operator to assist with collecting samples and do the necessary tests to ensure consistent and quality product and record results.\r
\t\r
\t\tCommunicate results of samples to the control room operator, so that they can adjust the (DCS) computer according to the results of the samples and to keep within parameters and record changes.\r
\t\r
\t\tKeep facility, control room, and break room clean including mopping and hosing down plant floors - tour ready conditions.\r
\t\r
\t\tLearn how to properly communicate with other operators on what has happened and what is supposed to be done during the next shift.\r
\t\r
\t\tWork closely with maintenance and inform them of any mechanical problems.\r
\t\r
\t\tCommunicate with the Laboratory and learn testing procedures including but not limited to yeast counts, microwave analyzer, HPLC, and the GC.\r
\t\r
\t\tResponsible for notifying Production/ Plant Manager of any production problems.\r
\t\r
\t\tComplete any and all tasks assigned by the Plant Manager/Production Manager.\r
\t\r
\t\tHelp out in other areas as needed.\r
\t\r
\t\tThe full time operators work a 12-hour shift work including a three day weekend every other week. The internship will have flexible hours to be determined based on the intern's needs.\r
\t\r
\t\tParticipate in safety programs and ongoing training sessions.\r
\t\r
\t\tRequired to follow all safety procedures.\r
\r
\r
\t \r
\r

\tQualifications:
\r

\t\r
\t\tHigh school diploma or equivalent required\r
\t\r
\t\tRequires a valid driver's license.\r
\t\r
\t\tBe able to operate utility vehicle.\r
\t\r
\t\tMust be hard working and self-motivated\r
\t\r
\t\tDetail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player.\r
\t\r
\t\tAbility to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects.\r
\t\r
\t\tGood communication skills, both written and verbal.\r
\t\r
\t\tNo experience necessary.\r
\t\r
\t\tExperience in industrial production plants helpful.\r
\t\r
\t\tMaintaining a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements of FRA, TTB and state regulations.\r

\tWork Environment/Physical Demands:

\t\tMust be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 60 lbs, and work at heights.\r
\t\r
\t\tWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.\r
\t\r
\t\tThe employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.\r
\t\r
\t\tThe employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.\r
\t\r
\t\tThe employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.\r

\t\tThe employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.\r
