Where You Will Work

Our Miami smelter and rod plant is nestled just 90 miles east of Phoenix. The smelter processes copper concentrate primarily from our company's Arizona copper mines and is the most significant source of sulphuric acid for our North American leaching operations. Description

Highly skilled electrical and/or instrument technician who applies a broad level of process and electrical knowledge to maximize and, where possible, improve the efficiency of the overall production process. These employees have met the qualifications of the company certification process. These workers mentor and train other workers.

Safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and constructionPerform preventive maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment)Provide leadership in areas such as safety, environmental, mentoring of new employees and apprentices, cost control, project management, KPI tracking and measurement, and proactive maintenance management processesPerform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years ofexperience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenanceQualified under the company certification processValid state driver's licenseMust have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

High School diploma or GEDExperience with VFDs, PLC, HMI, and/or SCADA Control SystemsExperience working with low and medium voltagesExperience with AC and/or DC controlsExperience with instrumentation devicesExperience with diagnostic electrical test equipmentExperience with HVAC equipment

Criteria/Conditions

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWork is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and seeOccasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workdayPersonal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as requiredIn order to receive full consideration for an interview, candidates must include all experience on their resume that indicates they have successfully met all the minimum requirements listed in this postingMust complete the pre-employment color perception as well as electrical/instrumentation assessmentWorking weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime as business needs dictateFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $ $41.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process. What We Require
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam. Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing. Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
