Overview

Senior Vice President, Accounting is responsible for the end-to-end accounting and financial reporting process including treasury and payables, related systems and technical accounting. The SVP, Accounting will use technical, strategic and operational expertise as well as strong leadership skills to serve as a key business partner to the CFO and broader Senior Management Team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in current accounting principles, financial management, current accounting software proficiency, working knowledge in KPI management.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Lead an accounting team including corporate accounting, treasury management, accounts payable, and property-level accounting and administration functions.
  • Oversee month-end closing process for all entities including analyzing results.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of all financial statements in compliance with US GAAP including the creation and maintenance of accounting policies and policies and procedures to ensure compliance and support an effective control environment.
  • Manage all external audit requirements and serve as the primary liaison with the Company's external audit firms.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and transactions.
  • Coordinate with finance team to ensure the information needed for financial planning and analysis, including the financial budget and reforecast process, is available on time and on quality including the preparation of all related variance analysis.
  • Assist CFO and FP&A in performing timely analysis and reporting on operational performance as it relates to the business activities and trends.
  • Continuously improve and streamline accounting systems, processes, policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy and align with business needs.
  • Support the CFO in maintaining controls and best practices related to disbursements, cash management and liquidity.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Ability to work in stressful environment.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills (Desired Abilities):

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and technical financial reporting skills.
  • Impeccable technology, analytical, and management skills including the Microsoft Office suite and cloud based general ledger packages (MRI a plus).
  • Well developed financial analysis capabilities, management skills-principles and people.
  • A strong planning mentality, and ability to design solutions and execute at a high level for success is necessary.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects / tasks with an attention to detail.

Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • A minimum of 15 years experience ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Finance and Accounting, commercial real estate accounting experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred
