Job Summary: The Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation (CEDB) at the University of West Florida located in Pensacola, Florida invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2024. We welcome qualified applicants who will be earning their Ph.D. prior to the appointment date. CEDB ) is designed to be an interdisciplinary research center and we are interested in broadening our faculty into new fields. CEDB appointments are generally 75% research with 25% teaching (one course per semester). The person holding this position will apply for tenure and promotion through the relevant academic department, depending on expertise.

Our faculty are active teacher-scholars who value collaborations both within and across disciplines. The Center seeks applicants who will engage in student mentorship and innovative course design that incorporates research-based curriculum using welcoming and equitable strategies. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program that includes consistent dissemination of published research, pursuit of competitive grants, and research mentoring of students from our undergraduate and M.S. programs.

Position Qualifications: Ph.D. in Oceanography, Limnology, Biology, Environmental Science, or closely related field from an accredited institution with a focus on water quality, estuarine ecology, plankton ecology and/or fisheries ecology from an accredited institution with a strong commitment to teaching, academic research, and service..
Preferred Qualifications Experience and/or interest in working with community groups and nonregulatory stakeholder-driven programs and a demonstrated ability to acquire grant funding is preferred.
