*This position would sit onsite at our Newton, MA office (320 Nevada St # 401, Newton, MA with potential to work a hybrid schedule.

A Day in the Life

The Senior Software Engineer - 3D Mapping will be an integral member of the Mapping & Navigation Software Team working with the recently acquired Affera technology. This is a unique opportunity to join a pre-market, industry disrupting technology. The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing, developing, and testing real time high performance visualization applications, can take ownership of key software features while working collaboratively with other engineering teams, and is passionate about working on a product that will have a positive impact on the lives of millions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build interactive tools to manipulate data that are intuitive and easy to use
  • Work with a UI engineer/designer on usability to deliver a streamlined responsive 3D and 2D user interface.
  • Extend software architecture to interface with other Medtronic or external products, incorporating new user interface controls where necessary.
  • Research and implement 3D rendering techniques to support new features.
  • Understand physician needs and develop new innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Update automated testing systems and continuous integration systems where necessary as software team requirements evolve.
  • Attend and participate in pre-clinical in-vivo system evaluations
  • Participate in laboratory demonstrations for internal stakeholders and clinicians

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience programming in Python, strong object oriented programming skills.
  • Extensive experience with 3D math and geometry skills.
  • Proficiency with development of software on Linux operating system.
  • Experience in C++
  • Experience writing OpenGL vertex and fragment shaders
  • Experience with serial communications, TCP/IP communications, ethernet network management, embedded Linux and containerization platforms
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment.
  • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial drive.
