The incumbent in these positions performs a full range of MR exams in accordance with established protocols. Adheres to the strict guidance of MR Safety policies and procedures. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Education Must be a graduate of an AMA approved of Radiology Technology (ARRT) and advanced certification in MR is preferred. As part of their education, candidates must also demonstrate competency in didactic coursework and an ARRT-specified list of clinical procedures by completing competency requirements established for the discipline in which they are seeking certification and registration. ExperiencePrior work experience not required but is preferred. Licenses and Certifications Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (RMRIT) or ARRT; with advanced certification in MR. CPR certification Associates must comply with the ARRT or RMRIT Rules and Regulation and the ARRT or RMRIT Standards of Ethics. Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust know or be able to learn transverse and cross-sectional anatomical and pathological presentations.Must be familiar with and able to perform and/or learn the technical operations associated with this modality.Must be able to work under stressful and emergent situations.Performs full range of MR imaging procedures in a timely manner on all patient types as specified by the protocol. The ability to perform veni puncture, the injection of contrast media, and non-narcotic medication is required for effective diagnostic imaging and scanning. Must adhere to the direction, policy, and procedures as defined by physician modality director.Strict adherence to research guidelines for studies performed on patients participating in research studies.Adheres to the policies and procedures that apply to the performance of obtaining MR studies and MR guided procedures, including performing correct, exam, including laterality, on the correct patient at the time requested.Provides basic information to patients and/or families concerning procedures to be performed and is able to answer questions if asked.Assists with the upkeep of MR and related equipment, adhering to all related safety requirements and reports need for equipment repairs. Has knowledge and able to execute and enforce MR Safety standards and practices.Monitors equipment, analyses potential reasons for system malfunction, contacts the Biomedical engineering department and reports malfunction to log a ticket.Ensures timely completion of all exams through tracking, scanning, and other technical workflow as related to Radiology Information System (RIS, Enterprise Radiology Solutions (ERS) and Enterprise Electronic Record (EMR).Coordinates and collaborates with Technical Aides to ensure efficient room turnover.Coordinates, communicates and collaborates with Patient Financial Associates that register radiology exams to minimize delays and potential safety issues for the outpatient population.Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.
