Summary

Assist patients, caregivers, and nursing staff in adhering to regular and modified feeding practices to comply with nutritional and oral feeding care plans. Engages in specialized, technical, direct patient care to hospitalized, vulnerable infants utilizing prescribed evidence-based cue-based feeding protocols.

Responsibilities*

? Monitors infants during feeding to ensure safety, efficiency, and tolerance.

? Sets up and maintains feeding equipment.

? Accurately collects and records data based on observable patient behavior.

? Completes standardized patient assessment of feeding readiness and quality, documents assessment results.

? Engages in implementation of quality monitoring.

? Assists with case-related duties such as protocol reviews and caregiver training.

? Collaborates and communicates with a multidisciplinary team including psychology, nutrition, speech therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and medical providers.

? Provides basic feeding education to family and care team.

? Records patient ins and outs.

? Performs other related duties as assigned.

General supervision is received from the inpatient Speech & Language Pathologist and Psychology faculty attending.

Required Qualifications*

? An associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

? Upon hire, successful completion of certification course in cue-based feeding in addition to completion of on-unit feeding competencies.

This position requires moderate standing/walking, and/or infrequent lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
